Fearless Dragon Writers' "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"/Roald Dahl Writing Worksheet (with 2 Themed Activity Sheets)

$5.00

Looking for materials to help teach SENSORY DETAILS in writing? Look no further! These materials tie-into a beloved classic and provide a way into Dahl-icious writing! (Ouch, I know!) Seriously, though, this is a Fearless Dragon Writers' WRITING WORKSHEET for the book: "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by author Roald Dahl. (Target audience: 8 - 13-year-olds.) Also included here are TWO THEMED ACTIVITY SHEETS to pair with this book to teach a mentor-text writing lesson on SENSORY DETAILS! These materials are at the heart of my Roald Dahl/"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" LESSON PLAN for this classic children's book.

You can use these materials in a number of ways, but the way I like to use these materials is.... I start with a READ ALOUD from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (by Roald Dahl) by reading Chapter 19, pages 87 - 91. Then I TEACH a lesson on 'SENSORY DETAILS'. You can make it easy on yourself and use my FULL LESSON PLAN (link below), if you like. It is FULLY SCRIPTED and contains enough material for 1.5 hours of teaching. (Trim it as you see fit. It also contains BONUS CONTENT on using ADJECTIVES!) Then I DISTRIBUTE and READ ALOUD this Printable WRITING WORKSHEET and the TWO THEMED-ACTIVITY SHEETS: 'What's in a Wonka Name?' and 'Invent Your Own Wonka Candy'. (Have your students select their favorite Writing Choice from the Writing Worksheet! As for the Activity Sheets, they can be used pre-writing or post. Both offer great ways to ramp up the fun!)

*Allow at least 20 minutes of student WRITING TIME. Then allow at least 20 minutes for SHARING TIME as the children read their work aloud in a supportive environment!
